Our Vision PDF Print E-mail

The vision of the Master's Academy of Fine Arts falls under the umbrella of Groundworks master vision to Reclaim, Restore, Release.

Groundworks Vision

RECLAIM
This is the heart of the vision and makes the call specific to the “children of the household of faith” in order that they might be reclaimed through biblically based education and discipleship in the arts.

The process of reclaiming is defined through our philosophy of education.

  • We believe that creativity is the core of all education, not an add on if there is extra time or money left over. It is the first thing we learn about God and it is the basis of everything we do.
  • We believe that education must be based on a biblical worldview in order to have an impact on the culture.
  • Education is best understood in its historical context, therefore, all of our programming is historically based.
  • Freedom and responsibility are paramount, for creativity flourishes in no other environment

RESTORE
While the process of restoration is present in all of our programs, it is most prevalent in The Master’s Academy of Fine Arts, The Master’s Academy of Visual and Performing Arts, The Master’s Institute, and Terebinth as those are the starting points for restoring what has been lost. Restoration is taught in several ways through The Master’s Academy programs.

All levels of instruction are based on teaching:

  • Character - Who we want them to be
  • Content - What we want them to know
  • Competence - What we want them to do
  • Instruction moves from an exposure level through an advanced level.
  • The teaching of a Christian worldview of the arts is paramount to the higher levels of the program.
  • The history, skills, and foundations of artistic principles are taught through a creative approach to learning.
  • Academics are a natural outgrowth of the creative process and should be taught from that perspective.

RELEASE
The purpose of all of this training is so that a generation of people who have been set free, and who have had their foundations restored, can be released to do the work which God has called them to do in their generation through the use of the arts. Again, although release is found in all of our programs, it is primarily focused in Twisted Oak, The Creative Cord, and Virtual Arts, the more outwardly focused divisions of our program.

  • Twisted Oak seeks to create culture and community through the arts in the development of cultural arts centers
  • The Creative Cord provides educational materials and publishing services to further expand the knowledge base of a Biblical worldview of the arts. In addition, it seeks to restore freedom, creativity and beauty to all aspects of life through workshops, conferences, gifts, and product lines.
  • Virtual Arts is an online arts colony that is available to everyone. It provides education in a Christian worldview of the arts, arts education, arts discussion, and arts networking.
